About this property

Welcome to SoMa House

SoMa House, located at 121 7th St, San Francisco, CA 94103, presents itself as a practical choice for travelers seeking convenience without breaking the bank. With a respectable rating of 3.5 stars, it is a brand that harmonizes affordability with essential comfort.

Recent guests have shared their positive experiences, highlighting the ongoing renovations that have enhanced the quality of the accommodations. Traveler Oras P. noted, “It’s not a luxurious experience, and you get a basic hotel room. But it’s basic done right.” This sentiment captures the essence of SoMa House; it provides clean, functional, and well-appointed rooms that cater to those who prioritize value.

The location is a significant advantage, placing guests near bustling attractions such as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. As Jackie M. puts it, the hotel is “super close to everything,” making it an ideal launchpad for exploring the vibrant SoMa district, renowned for its diverse eateries and nightlife.

Customer reviews, like that of Crystal Hernandez, emphasize the hotel’s excellent management and friendly staff. “Front desk management had great customer service” is a recurring theme, confirming that the team at SoMa House is dedicated to ensuring guest satisfaction. The complimentary breakfast offering, including pastries, coffee, and fruit, has received praise for its quality, further enhancing the overall experience.

However, it is important to note that there are aspects where improvements could be made. Guests pointed out issues with parking fees, which can reach $70, as well as occasional hot water problems. Emanuele Rovello’s review reflects a positive attitude towards resolution, crediting staff members like Sam for their problem-solving capabilities.

For travelers looking to save hundreds of dollars a night, SoMa House is a commendable option. The combination of clean accommodations, a welcoming atmosphere, and a location in the heart of San Francisco make it a solid choice for budget-conscious visitors. As David P. mentions, “it was an awesome stay.” In a city known for its high costs, SoMa House strikes an impressive balance between price and quality, making it a go-to destination for anyone visiting the City by the Bay.

Outstanding experience. They are actively renovating the rooms right now, and all the rooms we've been in are very nice (we stayed in 3 different rooms over the course of 1.5 months due to our schedules). It's not a luxurious experience, and you get a basic hotel room. But it's basic done right. Clean room, good gym, heated pool (I didn't try), AMAZINGLY friendly staff. This will be our go-to place for whenever we visit SF. Pro tip: the rooms have no fridge, but if you call ahead and request it, they can put a mini fridge in the room for you.

FROM A LOCAL- You would stay here for LOW PRICE. oh and the breakfast pastries in the lobby were above average!! Oh and Deli Board sandwiches around the corner!! You will save hundreds of dollars a night and you wont be in the room that much anyway, I would hope. Parking is 57-65 dollars a night depending on the size of your vehicle. The pictures are accurate but they do not tell the whole story. There are rooms boarded up with plywood. The building, elevator, windows, courtyard and deteriorating. This is a CHEAP place to stay in one of the most expensive cities in the world. That is why you would stay here. If this is a vacation to SF you might pick a nicer place. This is on the edge of the tenderloin. If you walk north a couple blocks you will see the area that you have seen on Fox news. Yes you can see the bottom of humanity right on the street. Its actually interesting to walk through it. You are not in danger. We walked around all night. No problems. With any city you watch for danger, but relax. The location is pretty good to get all around SF. Try Waymo app. Robot cars. If you are healthy you can walk to many great spots, union square, japan town, market st, ferry building, mission district, oracle park

Good location and price! Walked nearby to Folsom street for bars and clubs. Front desk management on 3/15/25 at 4pm had great customer service! Negative things are parking is $70 and there was no hot water. Had to run my water for 15 min until the warmer came. Free breakfast 7-10!

Clean rooms good service and professional personnel. What has made the difference is always the right person in the right moment to fix problem and find solutions. When we arrived our rooms were not available. Sam, that’s the name of the guy who was capable to find 2 magnificent triple rooms for us allowing us to have a moment to relax and recover after 13 hour flight Strategic position for downtown. Original Breakfast location

Super close to everything, receptionists and valet so kind, helpful and such a good people make us feel so comfortable to my mom and I. Room clean and comfy, quiet place. Loved the breakfast. Th hotel is under remodeling but that didn’t bother at all out time here.

Awesome stay for seven nights. We requested and were given a quiet room. The front desk staff was always extraordinarily nice and helpful, and the housekeeping was top notch. Breakfast was great (coffee, fruit and pastries), and the pool area was kept spotless. Yes, the neighborhood is worthy of mention, but we never felt, nor observed, anything the least bit unsafe. The value proposition is as good as it gets. Highly recommend.
